When we bought this older home, we were pleasantly surprised to find that a living room closet had been converted as an entertainments center. We had always wanted a larger screen HDTV and with a few carpentry revisions, Bob adapted this to house our new TV. where the clock is above the TV, there is a switch that we can turn on a small TV light or to showcase collectibles. In the bottom is room for storage and display pieces. ( this is a fun area to decorate during the holidays. ) I thought some might be interested in seeing this as it is a different approach from buying an entertainment center. ( and much less expensive )
Well now isn't that a neat idea. We found out not too long ago that our house was built in the early 50's, not the 60's like we thought. it's ranch style with hardly any storage at all. Just a closet in each in bedroom. Our living room is kind of narrow but long with 2 big ole' picture windows taking up the wall space (east side and south side). We had to put our big screen tv at the east end right in front of the picture window. It's works well though.
ReplyDeleteWe were given the history of this house when we bought it. the original home had a fire and our house was rebuilt in 1935. In the 70's they lifted the house and poured a new basement. When they sit the house back onto the foundation, wires were damaged and caused another fire, destoying much of the interior. they did an entire renovation ofthe house..so it has much better walls yet has the original staircasing and entry way...but a newer kitchen! Like many old houses, there were very few closets , and during the renovation they added a few.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very clever idea! I love the way it looks too! It's the perfect solution for a big screen TV. I love it! Congratulations on the new big screen too!

My Mom had this done at her house. She hated losing the closet space but loves the TV out of the way. It looks great!
