Mom and I did when we flew out to Aunt Grace’s. When borded a plan at State College we sat a long time after we boarded.The Stewardess kept walking back and forth. Then I smelled fuel. The plane had lost it’s fuel. It was all over the ground. We had to get off,there were 2 plane to take passengers. Ours was an old Alligany airline; it had patches on it;faded, a 14 seater. We had to step on a wooden box to get into it. We were overloaded a 2 men had to sit on the floor in the tail area. When I stepped onto the box to get in ; I heard a woman say ( she was lining up to get in the other plane)”I wouldn’t get into that plane for all the tea in China”.!!! The pilot formed he would communicate with us after the plane was in the air. After we got up we flew into a storm; he never talked to us. I was really scared. He landed somewhere and we switched to what looked like a sea plane. I felt safe in that one. I remember you Karen how you were surprised at that plane. You would have horrified to see the other plane!!
After we left Ohio ( I think was Republic airlines) when we boarded I commented to Mom the plane was so dirty outside. Well we got boarded okay; took off. Then water started dripping on Moms back. A lot of dripping!! I told the Stewardess about it; she thought the the a/c must have been the cause. Poor Mom!! The stewardess brought paper towel to catch the water drips. Eventually it stopped. I remember telling Mom if there was a hole in the plane we would be sucked out!!! When we landed in Chicago, a man flipped down the door on the storage space over us . He pulled out a large vase of flowers. The mystery of where the water came from was solved!! It was a tall vase; he laid it on it’s side. Mom meanwhile had a very wet backside( lol ). It was first plane trip; I have another story about that trip. Save it for another time.😂
