There was a discussion here a while back about the history of Zimmer's Truck Stop. My Dad, Bob Vivian, owned it for a few years and asked me to post this here:
With the completion of RT 30, a family by the name of Gibson built the Truckstop and restaurant in 1939 at the Jct. of Rt52 and Rt30. In the early 1950s the Gibson's sold the truckstop to Paul and Mary Zimmer. In 1959 The Zimmers sold the truckstop to Herb Steder. Through out my high school years I worked for Herb (4-12 shift) until I went to the Army in 1966. When I returned from the army in 1968, I bought and managed the truckstop and restaurant until 1972. At that time I sold the business to Leonard and Gordon Wenzel. Thought this timeline may be of interest to the history of Zimmers.
