A 1923 photo of the Reynolds Wire Company, located at First Street and Crawford Avenue, the location formally owned by the Dixon Plow Works. Brought to Dixon in 1894 by Horace G. Reynolds to make wire screen cloth, it was the first such venture west of New York. The company expanded steadily, including acquiring a building on East Second. In 1950, the company became a part of the National Standard Company, of Niles, Michigan. In 1962, the company closed its Dixon facilities, and moved the operation to Corbin, Kentucky.
As a side note, Bob’s mom Clara Boyenga worked there for the Admiral Corp., which was set up there while their new building was being constructed on Rte. 38.  It presently houses medical offices for KSB  and has an adjoining  walkway
