I didn't realize that we were poor by standards that society sets; wasn't until a few years ago when at a ladies circle meeting when we were all asked our favorite toy we got at Christmas, etc. I drew a blank as I could not remember receiving a special toy except for a q pie doll that was broken that same day.So I said; my favorite memories were not the things we received but the decorating and family meal with all the trimmings. We didn't have grandparents to visit; we spent the day with each other. Mom made Christmas so special the decorations, food, Christmas tree; we weren't poor; we were rich with their love..
